ADOPT A TEACHER WISH LIST

Name: Andrea Hudson

School: Heights High School

Subject: 9th Grade Counselor

Tell us a little bit about you. Things you like outside of school, etc.…

I am a mother of two grown children and an empty nester. I am consumed by work but in a good way.  Outside of school, I enjoy cooking and doing crafts and The History Channel!  I have what I call ‘life projects’ always in the works – my current project is finding my ‘forever home’.  Also, I am a big giver!   I show love to others by giving little gifts or acknowledgements to lift their spirits!  It makes me feel great!!

Give us an idea of your education passion, can you tell us something of why you chose education…

I am a new counselor but in my 10th year in education.  I have always had a passion for working with young people and providing them with the support they may need to be better.  Upon entering the classroom and the teaching profession, I found that I was developing a supportive relationship on varying levels with most of my students.  I also found that many of them had deeper issues to contend with and needed help learning how to cope with everyday life. For this reason, transitioning into the role of a school counselor was an easy decision.  What started out as an interest has grown into a passion. Whether it be simply building rapport with the student or teaching them strategies to cope with their feelings, I now realize the gravity of using specific processes to unlock a student’s mind to explore his or her potential.  Seeing the individual growth in students, both educationally and emotionally, has been a rewarding experience!

To help you feel better what do you like? Card, Starbucks, candy, prayer, etc.… list as many things as you wish

Coffee mugs, coffee, prayer…… anything at all makes me feel appreciated!  The thought itself is nice.

To help you with supplies, what items are you wanting?

I am not sure what I need. I would love a pencil or some school supply that I can give to my 9th graders.
