In this profile we introduce you to Donna Torres. She hails from Jennings, Oklahoma, a small, (no, make that a tiny town in Pawnee County). What makes it small? Well in 1905 the town boasted of a “quiet and orderly” saloon, two broom factories and ten stone buildings. By the time of the 2010 Census count there were 363 residents. Attending local schools, Donna points out that she graduated in a high school class of only 18!
With no apparent future there, Donna made her way to Texas in 1996 and where she earned her BBA Finance & MBA degrees from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. She is the first in her family to attend and graduate from college. Today she operates Greater Heights Business Solutions which provides Accounting, Bookkeeping and Tax services. Before starting her business Donna held a variety of positions with local companies serving in various accounting and finance roles. One of which saw her at Shell Oil Company for over 10 years, as well as stints at Coldwell Banker United, Travel Leaders and Sonair USA.
Donna joined the Chamber in 2018 and has been involved in various roles almost immediately. Today she serves as an Ambassador, on several additional committees and volunteers in many other ways. In joining the Chamber, her intent was “To expand my network and get to know local business owners.” There is no doubt that she had achieved that goal many times over.
What keeps her busy outside of work? There is an easy answer to that, her 2 year-old twin daughters, Gemma and Grace. Donna values staying fit and healthy and her “me time” is spent in working out especially in high intensity group workouts. She and her husband will celebrate their 5 year anniversary in May. Say hello to Donna at a Chamber event, she will greet you with an always ready friendly smile.
