Please join us for our June Breakfast Connection which will feature Brett Shryock, the Logistics Specialist for the Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM).
HCOHSEM is responsible for disaster planning, preparedness, response and recovery in the nation’s third largest county which encompasses 34 cities and 1,770 square miles. Since FEMAs creation in 1979, Harris County has had 46 federally declared disasters, half of which have been major disaster declarations.
Before transitioning to Harris County, Brett was the Emergency Operations Specialist for the Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council (CATRAC). During this time, he was a member of the Texas Life and Fire Safety Organization where he was awarded the “Texas Life and Fire Safety Educator of the year award.”
Prior to his time at CATRAC, Brett was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for Fayette County EMS for 6 years. During his time in Fayette County, Brett was awarded the “Texas Department of State Health Services Children’s Life Saving Award” for his heroic actions that saved the life of a 4-year-old girl.
Brett successfully led the “Stop the Bleed” program which is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Homeland Security in Austin, TX and the 13 surrounding counties
