“I was born and raised in Houston, TX and lived a majority of my life in the Heights.  I have always known I was going to run my own business one way or another.  One of my funniest childhood memories was charging my friends to visit my “movie theatre” where I showed The Muppet Movie in my home on VHS.  Needless to say, my mother made me give refunds to everyone and never let me live that one down.

My best friend’s parents were both artists and encouraged us to always create.  In 1986 Jean-Michel Jarre came to town and presented his Rendez-vous concert for the city.  My best friend and I came up with what we called “Laser Masks” to wear during his show. Her parents had an artist booth during the festival prior to the concert where they let us set up our very own shop.  We made a whopping $50 each and for two 10 year old’s in 1986 that was quite the bankroll.  We were both hooked!  We held many lemonade stands and several garage sales before her family moved out of state.

Fast forward many many years, I was still selling my (now crochet) creations in an artist booth around town.  On my 42nd birthday, I decided it was time to set up a more permanent shop for my art.  The Whimsy Artisan Boutique was born.  I brought along 11 other artists and makers for the ride.  Since then we have grown to over 150!  We will be celebrating our three year anniversary this March and look forward to many more years.

On a more personal note, I am the wife to my high school sweetheart and we have a 13 year old son.  We are a family of artists.  My husband is a musician and son is an avid gamer / ballet dancer who has recently begun his musical journey.  We have two dogs (a Chihuahua and a Jack Russell Terrier) who also love to sing.”
