Resale Third Key Holder

Employment Status:  full-time, non-exempt

Department Description

MAM’s Resale Store was established in 1983 as a core aspect of its programming.  The purpose of the store is to provide income for MAM client programs.  In any given year, 50% of the store revenues provide funds for programs at MAM.

Additionally, the store is the venue for distribution of no-cost items to clients who are enrolled in service programs at MAM.  These clients shop with vouchers issued by their service provider and purchase necessary items like clothing, shoes and household goods.

MAM Resale is also contracted with the city of Houston and Harris County to provide Community Service Workers (CSW) a place to serve.


The Resale Key Holder:

  • Orients, schedules and supervises Community Service Volunteers (CSV)

  • Oversees workroom processes and quality control

  • Assist management in handling day-to-day operations of the Resale Store

Responsibilities Include:

The Resale Key Holder:

  • Orients, trains, schedules and supervises CS Volunteers

  • Prioritize and assign CSV tasks

  • Opens and closes store as needed

  • Serves as workroom ‘go-to’ person for all who work in the workroom

  • Communicate workroom needs to management

  • Cashiering

  • Assists manager with maintaining stock levels on sales floor

  • Provides Quality Assurance oversight for donation sorting

  • Supervise staff and volunteers in management’s absence

  • Responsible for overall management and operations of the store in the absence of management which includes but not limited to the opening and closing of the store, assuring coverage and handling of monies and daily reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods.


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

  • Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Required to remain at their work station for prolonged periods of time

Working Conditions/ Work Environment:

  • Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor warehouse, but regularly requires working outside in a variety of weather conditions such as cold, rainy, heat, etc.

  • Flexibility for travel related to job requirements

  • Provide own reliable transportation with proof of valid driver’s license and TX minimum requirements of auto insurance

  • Previous experience with resale, thrift or warehouse tasks

  • Commitment to the MAM mission to assure families have the means to meet their basic needs.

  • Bi-lingual – English & Spanish

  • Prior experience in retail sales or demonstration of ability

  • Ability to work with a variety of people including volunteers and Community Service volunteers

  • Ability to work without direct supervision

  • Available to work weekends
