Tell us a little bit about you. Things you like outside of school, etc.…

I am an MIT and Clemson graduate, with degrees in environmental engineering.  After 15 years in engineering consulting I became a teacher to inspire students to develop a passion for STEM and provide representation to underrepresented minority students.  I am also a mother, wife, and taekwondo black belt.

Give us an idea of your education passion, can you tell us something of why you chose education…

Students need teachers who are knowledgeable about the content and concerned for their well-being.  Black women teachers help to normalize students into rejecting antiquated notions that we cannot be scientists.

To help you feel better what do you like? Card, Starbucks, candy, prayer, etc.… list as many things as you wish

Please pray for me to be the best teacher that I can be.  Please pray for my students to become what God calls them to become, not confined to any person’s preconceived notion.  Please pray that we can all be flexible as we navigate this school year.

Starbucks and Target cards are always appreciated!

To help you with supplies, what items are you wanting?

I need an ergonomic chair at home to facilitate online learning and late-night grading.

I need a way to write on the screen during our class discussions; I usually write constantly on my white board.

Once we get back to class, I need a lot of counting disks or beads for an ecology lesson that I learned with the National Math and Science Initiative.  I need about 500 each of the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

A kit from Carolina to help me teach transcription and translation when we get back to the classroom.

Carolina has lots of kits that I would love and a laminator for my room would be awesome, but I figured I need to stop the list somewhere.  Thank you so much for considering me.
