Wow! Where do we start in familiarizing you with the many skills, talents and experience bundled inside Bonnie Sheeren? This lady is an independent patient advocate who helps people navigate the world of health care to achieve the best medical care possible at a reasonable cost.

She is a fourth generation Texan, born in Baytown, a graduate of Baytown Sterling History and English at Texas A & M University with a teaching certification added on. Following a stint with Harper and Row Publishers she traveled and spent time in the New York office, however, she decided the East Coast was not for her. It was on to graduate school at UT-Austin to learn corporate video production. Armed with new capabilities she returned to Houston and put her talents to work for UT-Health Science Center as a writer/producer on a drug use prevention video project.

As one who easily makes friends, Bonnie did just that and went to work for the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center where she wrote and produced videos including patient education, to doctor’s presentations, to pediatric Christmas card programs. This was followed by taking on the 90 second weekly syndicated Health Report featuring the world renowned Dr. “Red” Duke. In effect she went from writing and producing oncology videos to the world of the ER.

When two national patient advocacy groups formed in 2009 she researched this new field and made her decision at the beginning of 2014 to open her own business, Houston Health Advocacy, LLC. Since her family has lived in the Heights for 20 years, she wanted to be a part of the local business community and that gave her the impetus to join the Chamber. And she adds, “It is a very friendly group, so that’s a big plus!”

Bonnie is active in several industry associations including the National Association of Healthcare Advocacy Consultants. In keeping with her outgoing personality, she enjoys Laughter Yoga, taking care of the family menagerie of pets, and spending time with her husband and two daughters. The Chamber salutes your drive and dedication Bonnie, and applauds your many accomplishments.
