Loan Officer with Movement Mortgage
I moved to Houston a little over 10 years ago from Indianapolis. My brother and his family moved here first, and with a little coaxing, I decided to join them.
Houston has been a great experience. I like the people and really enjoy all the sunny days. The Midwest can be really cloudy in the winter; I would trade heat for cold and cloudy any day. I own a home in the Heights and really enjoy being close to everything. Joining the Chamber was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made! I have made some good friends, and I have benefitted professionally as well.
I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Business. My first job out of college was Co-Manager at Kroger. It was a great experience managing over 150 people but the hours were long and even though I enjoyed the job, it wasn’t quite the right fit. I decided that I needed something that was more 9 to 5, so I pursued the Mortgage Business. Well, it’s definitely NOT 9 to 5, but it was well suited for me.
My first Mortgage job was with a small bank in Indianapolis. I would call on Realtors all day long. That was back before cell phones and laptops, so Realtors spent more time in the office. It was much easier to catch them. I came to enjoy the Mortgage Business.
I joined Movement Mortgage a year and half ago. We put a high value on honoring our clients. It can be a very nervous and unpredictable process purchasing your own home, so I try to keep it as hassle free as possible for my clients.
We are so lucky to live in a city with so many fine dining choices. One of my favorite past times is eating in nice restaurants and drinking good whiskey with friends. I also have joined a Thursday night bowling league with other Chamber members.
I enjoy going to the networking events that the Chamber has to offer. I currently serve on the HYP Committee and the Ambassador Committee. This has given me the opportunity to learn about businesses in the Heights. I have enjoyed meeting the members.
